Joey Logano was among the last standing and got the win and the guitar in the NASCAR Cup Series ally 400 at Nashville. It was an intense battle that saw several drivers who seemed to have the race in the bag, starting with Ross Chastain being run down by a blazing fast Denny Hamlin with only 15 laps to go. Add in several cautions wrecks and 5 overtime restarts, and you end up with Joey Logano in victory lane and rookie Zane Smith finishing second, both of which were never threats the entire race! The race went a record-breaking 331 laps due to the cautions and overtimes. Tyler Reddick was running down Logano on the final lap on the backstretch, but Logano held him off coming out of turn 4 as both cars began to studder as they started to run out of fuel. Reddick held on to finish 3rd, Ryan Preece finished 4th, and Chris Buescher rounded out the top 5. The race saw a rain delay that lasted over an hour, but unlike last week at New Hampshire rain tires didn’t play a part in determining the outcome.
The NASCAR Cup Series heads to the streets of Chicago Sunday July 7th. The green flag waves at 4:30PM eastern and you can watch it all on NBC.
