Ty Majaeski jumped out in front of Zane Smith on the last restart of the UNOH 200 Camping World Truck Series race Friday night at Bristol. Ty pulled away and led the last 12 laps in order to win his first NASCAR national series race. The win puts him in the Truck series Championship 4 finale at Homestead in November. After taking the checkers, a jubilant Majeski exclaimed over the team radio, “Let’s polish this baby up and take her to Phoenix!” In an attempt to save the motor, Majeski skipped the customary celebratory burn out at the start finish line leading to some boos from the fans.
Majeski celebrated with his team after the win, and he has extra reason to be so happy. After winning over 2000 iRacing events, Ty began his physical world racing career running Late Models in 2012 winning 5 races including the 2018 and 2020 Slinger Nationals and the 2020 Snowball Derby. He embarked on a part time ARCA a part time effort in 2016 where he won 3 races in 2019. 2022 is Ty’s first full time run in the Truck series, and he made it into the playoffs the first time around without winning a regular season race.
Parker Kligerman finished third followed by Grant Enfinger in fourth, and Matt Crafton rounded out the top 5. Chandler Smith led a race high 89 laps and won the first two stages. He ended up finishing ninth, but qualified for the Championship 8 in doing so.
Josh Reume was involved in a crash with Rajah Caruth on lap 37. He initially climbed out of the truck, but was later transported to the hospital for further evaluation.
The Camping World truck Series kicks off the Round of 8 at Talladega on October 1st.
