The iRacing World of Outlaws Carquest Auto Parts Sprint Car Series season wraps up its 2022-23 season with a return to The Dirt Track at Charlotte, with a $25,000 purse on the line and a group of talented drivers going to battle for the championship. As always, the action can be seen live at 9PM ET on twitch.tv/iracing and DirtVision.

Last Race: The penultimate round of the season saw drivers take on Weedsport, and the results were anything but expected. Points leader Alex Bergeron finished off the lead lap and incoming second place Timothy Smith didn’t even transfer to the feature, enabling Tyler Schell to jump to second in the standings and James Edens to stay mathematically eligible for the title. In the main event, Dylan Yeager took the lead from Edens with 11 laps to go to score the win, joining a short list of drivers to take wins in both of iRacing’s premier World of Outlaws pro series (sprint cars and late models).

Last Season: The traditional series finale in the virtual world as in the real one, Charlotte saw 2021-22 champion Cameron Merriman lock up the title by finally scoring his first win of the season. Merriman’s victory, combined with a fourth-place finish for top challenger and three-time defending series champion Alex Bergeron, allowed him to claim the champion’s prize for the first time.

Track Info: Located across the street from Charlotte Motor Speedway, The Dirt Track at Charlotte opened in 2000. The .400-mile clay oval has become the traditional season-ender for World of Outlaws and DIRTcar series of all types, from the World Finals for the premier levels to the World Short Track Championship the week before for everything from modifieds to sportsman classes.

Coming Up: The iRacing World of Outlaws Carquest Sprint Car Series champion will head to Volusia Speedway Park next month to be honored during the DIRTcar Nationals. Besides receiving their $10,000 champion’s check and official series trophy, they’ll get to serve as an honorary starter and ride in the pace car for the real-life World of Outlaws NOS Energy Sprint Car Series season opener.
